Christian Dior was born in France on January 21st, 1905, and was a gentleman renowned for his innovation. Coming from a household which dealt with producing chemicals along with fertilizers, he streamed right in the opposite track but quite effectively making a name for himself in the fashion fraternity which conferred him a lot of accolades for his imaginative way of dealing with clothes. He was a master of his trade leaving no loose ends to make a complaint about. Despite the fact that his approach was different from the typical, it was this individuality that gave him an impetus to make his concepts viable worldwide. He had brought with his designs a revolution in women's clothes once again making Paris as a centre of the fashion trade.

Christian Dior was an influential style designer and the creator of the Doir Empire. He attended the Ecole des Sciences Politiques to satisfy his parent's requests. Although his parents wished that he would become a diplomat, much to their surprise their child was more interested in art rather than being a diplomat. To make money he used to trade his fashion drawings at 10 cents apiece. He opened a small art gallery in 1928 from the funds he received from his father. However due to the family's financial ruin he was required to close up his gallery and worked along side Robert Piguet who afterward joined the fashion house where he and Pierre Balmain had been the chief designers. In 1945 he went into business for himself, backed by Marcel Boussac, the cotton-fabric industrialist. He opened his own fashion house in 1946 and displayed his opening collection by the name "Corolle" which popularly acquired the name New Look. Renowned for the sensual looks given to his clothes, he was a master in producing shapes and silhouettes. He passed away on October 23rd, 1957.

After his initial design, which had already ensured his place in the global forum of fashion, his later designs also made a sizeable impression on the ramp. The H-line in 1954 and the A-line in 1955 grew to be as well-liked as the first one and people started to look upto him as a person of inspiration. The company expanded not only in terms of stores but in addition ventured into new forums. Following his death his company was managed by his grand daughter who made the company reach new heights.
