Christian Dior Brand Profile

Christian Dior was born in France on January 21st, 1905, and was a gentleman well-known for his inventiveness. Coming from a household which dealt with producing chemical substances and fertilizers, he streamed right in the opposite track but quite effectively producing a identify for himself in the fashion fraternity which conferred him a lot of accolades in support of his inventive technique of dealing with clothing. Christian Dior was an influential style designer and the founder of the Doir Empire. He attended the Ecole des Sciences Politiques to fulfill his parent's wishes. Though his family wished that he would develop into a diplomat, much to their surprise their child was more interested in art rather than being a diplomat. To make money he used to trade his fashion drawings at ten cents each. He opened a tiny art gallery in 1928 from the capital he received from his father. However due to the family's financial tragedy he was required to close up his gallery and worked with Robert Piguet who soon after joined the fashion house where he and Pierre Balmain had been the principal designers. In 1945 he went into production for himself, backed by Marcel Boussac, the cotton-fabric industrialist. He opened his own fashion house in 1946 and presented his initial collection by the name "Corolle" which popularly acquired the name New Look. Known for the sensual looks given to his attires, he was a master at designing shapes and silhouettes. He passed away on October 23rd, 1957.

Following his initial design, which had already ensured his position in the international community of fashion, his ensuing creations also made a large effect on the ramp. The H-line in 1954 and the A-line in 1955 grew to be as popular as the earliest one and people started to look upto him as a source of inspiration. The company expanded not only in terms of shops but in addition ventured into different forums. Upon his passing away his company was handled by his grand daughter who made the company accomplish new heights. Some of the awards won by the company include:
